Are you struggling for somewhere to sit in the mix? Are you and the other guitar player clashing sonically and/or harmonically? If so, young Daniel and I offer up these 10 ideas for you try when playing ‘rhythm’ guitar.
As we have opined many times, ‘rhythm’ guitar is a bit of a catch-all term. To us they're just parts in songs, nevertheless this show isn’t about how to nail your Nile Rodgers funk chops, or achieve seamless synchronicity like Malcolm and Angus. Moreover it’s about some tonal suggestions that will bring interest and separation to parts in a song. We talk about volume, EQ, modulation and delay for the most part, to act as springboards for your own perfect dive into the music. Wow, that was cheesy.

Hi Dan here. As some of you know I love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I train at http://gracieswindon.com and am currently a 2 stripe blue belt.
As a guitarist I've been really concerned about my hands but I’ve discovered some tips that have helped me be able to train AND keep my guitar playing where it needs to be.
If you train BJJ or are looking to give it a go, these tips could help :)

Everything you ever wanted to know about guitar tuners and how to choose the best one!

And lo, at noon of the fifth day, the world cryeth in (almost) unison: “Surely they cannot make a 57-minute video about guitar pedal tuners?! They’re all the same, aren’t they?!”
And Dan and Mick looked down upon the people and said, “For too long you have placed your trust in that box that never quite makes an open D and G sound right. Wise ye up to these teachings and see if thy blessed instrument may sing more harmoniously. It will verily take as long as it takes.”
Yep, annoyingly there is quite a lot to say about guitar tuners. From the obvious (it needs to fit wherever you’re going to put it) to the not so obvious (accuracy is at best a moving target), we talk about relative pitch, sweetened tuning, silent tuning, monitor modes, buffers and plenty more besides. Including 432Hz, should you be interested.
One thing for certain is that you ought never to look at your tuner in the same way again.

Enjoy the episode!
